While in Starbuck in Seattle last week, I noticed they had cool looking bottled water for sale. I almost bought one as I forgot my water as I rushed to catch an early plane from Spokane. Then it was my turn to order and it forgot about the water. Something that caught my eye about the water was that a percentage (I don't remember how much but it was significant) of the sale went to an outfit called PlayPumps. So when I saw someone else blog about this, it jogged my memory and I looked it up.
PlayPumps is an organization that creates fun to use water pumps in rural Africa. So how do they make them fun? Merry-go-rounds! Yes, that's right. The kids play on the merry-go-round which then pumps water into a 2500 liter holding tank equipped with a simple tap. It's a great idea and looks like a lot of fun. I hadn't used a merry-go-round in years until a month or so ago when I was taking Kyle for an early morning walk and it was so much fun! I need one in my yard!
