New Disney.com Forces Adoption of Flash Player 9
Want to deploy Flash 9 SWFs on your site? On our site, Google Analytics statistics show Flash 9 at only 59% of visitors.

That's not quite the 80% we like to see before deploying new technology. But don't worry, Disney's much talked about new Disney.com will help. The 995 pixel wide, media (video) heavy site requires Flash Player 9 to view any content. Users without the latest Flash Player are greeted with this graphic:

No magical hello. No alternative navigation. No "if you can't upgrade here's how to contact us." Just get Flash Player 9 or go away. Wow. Quite an interesting strategy for one of the larger sites on the Web. Is their content really that compelling that they can be that rude to users without the latest technology? Regardless, thanks Disney for boosting the adoption rate of Flash Player 9.
For those interested in a before and after comparison, attached is a screen capture of the previous edition of Disney.com.
